Job description
The following is a list of the key roles (this is not an exhaustive list):
- Responding to incidents at, and in the vicinity of the Airport.
- Ensuring full compliance with a comprehensive training schedule in accordance with Civil Aviation Publication (CAP) 699-Framework for the Competence of Rescue and Fire-Fighting (RFFS) Personnel.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Assist with the Airport equipment maintenance regime.
- Assist passengers.
- Administer first aid following training.
- Fuelling aircraft.
- Passenger baggage handling (unloading/ loading aircraft).
- Freight handling.
- Assist with the Airport Wildlife Management Plan.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have the ability to be flexible and work shifts.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate they can work effectively on their own but also efficiently in a team environment.
- Be self-disciplined and self motivated.
- Undertake duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and expertise that is relevant to their workplace.
- Be adept in the use of basic computer skills, including data entry and recording. An understanding of word processing and spreadsheets is an advantage.
- Be able to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, Managers and the general public sufficient to exchange and convey information and receive work direction.
- Be prepared to assist in all aspects of an operational Airport.
Desirable:
A valid Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) endorsed Fire-Fighter Certificate of Competence or On-call (retained) local authority / MOD firefighting experience would be beneficial.
