Fire-Fighter and Ramp Operative

The following is a list of the key roles (this is not an exhaustive list):

• Responding to incidents at, and in the vicinity of the Airport.
• Ensuring full compliance with a comprehensive training schedule in accordance with Civil Aviation Publication (CAP) 699-Framework for the Competence of Rescue and Fire-Fighting (RFFS) Personnel.
• Attend training courses as required.
• Assist with the Airport equipment maintenance regime.
• Assist passengers.
• Administer first aid following training.
• Fuelling aircraft.
• Passenger baggage handling (unloading/ loading aircraft).
• Freight handling.
• Assist with the Airport Wildlife Management Plan.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have the ability to be flexible and work shifts.
• Have strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate they can work effectively on their own but also efficiently in a team environment.
• Be self-disciplined and self motivated.
• Undertake duties commensurate with the level of responsibility and expertise that is relevant to their workplace.
• Be adept in the use of basic computer skills, including data entry and recording. An understanding of word processing and spreadsheets is an advantage.
• Be able to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, Managers and the general public sufficient to exchange and convey information and receive work direction.
• Be prepared to assist in all aspects of an operational Airport.

Desirable:

A valid Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) endorsed Fire-Fighter Certificate of Competence or On-call (retained) local authority / MOD firefighting experience would be beneficial.
