Hangar Foreman
Job description
Skybus Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Hangar Foreman to join our Engineering team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Hangar Foreman will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination and supervision of aircraft maintenance activities across the Skybus Engineering operation.
This is an important position within the Engineering team, providing leadership within the hangar environment and ensuring that scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is planned and delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Base and Line Maintenance, Technical Records and other operational departments to ensure the Engineering operation continues to provide effective support to the Skybus fleet.
Key responsibilities
The Hangar Foreman will be responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating Engineering personnel and day-to-day hangar maintenance activities.
- Coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance inputs with the Engineering Manager.
- Ensuring appropriate manpower, licensed supervision and inspection continuity are maintained.
- Ensuring maintenance work is supported by the correct job numbers, work packs, tooling, equipment and aircraft spares.
- Monitoring maintenance progress and identifying potential delays or resource issues.
- Ensuring maintenance documentation, work cards and certification are correctly completed.
- Ensuring the appropriate Certificate of Release to Service is issued before aircraft or components are returned to service.
- Monitoring tooling and equipment standards and identifying shortages or defects.
- Leading weekly hangar workload meetings covering maintenance progress, manpower, spares and procurement issues.
- Promoting high standards of safety, regulatory compliance and Human Factors.
- Supporting the Engineering Manager in the development and continuous improvement of the Engineering operation.
- Assisting with the recruitment, development and supervision of Engineering personnel.
- Representing the Engineering Department when delegated to do so by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications and experience
We are looking for an experienced aircraft engineering professional who can demonstrate:
- Strong aircraft maintenance experience within a regulated aviation environment.
- Previous supervisory, leadership or team-coordination experience.
- A good understanding of both Base and Line Maintenance operations.
- The ability to plan and prioritise competing maintenance requirements.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive approach to resolving manpower, tooling, equipment and spares issues.
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance and Human Factors.
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a busy operational environment.
- The confidence to lead, motivate and support engineering personnel.
- A willingness to contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of the Engineering operation.
An appropriate aircraft maintenance licence and/or relevant engineering authorisation would be advantageous, subject to the requirements of the role and company procedures.
