Quay Hand (St Mary’s)

A new opportunity has become available for a Quay Hand based at St Mary’s. Reporting to the Quay Manager, this role focuses on the day-to-day operations of the loading and unloading of the company vessels.

Responsibilities

• To carry out the general handling of freight on the quays, including loading and unloading the Group’s vessels in a safe and efficient manner.
• To operate the Group’s forklift trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
• To check all freight handled is fit for shipping and report any damage to it or any missing freight.
• To carry out routine maintenance of freight equipment and buildings, including the maintenance of a clean working environment.
• To follow health and safety regulations at all times in order to maintain a safe working environment.
• To provide assistance to freight customers as required.
• To complete job related training as required.
• To carry out such other duties as are required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Counterbalance forklift truck.
• Slinging & Signalling
• First Aid
• Manual Handling

Hours

• 40 hour contract to include weekdays and weekends alongside some Bank Holidays.
