Reporting to: Marine Superintendent

We are seeking an individual to join the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group in a primarily shoreside, Monday to Friday role based in Penzance.
The role will provide day-to-day support to the Marine and Technical Superintendents, with particular responsibility for assisting in the introduction into service of new vessels joining the fleet. This will include supporting entry-into-service activities, managing and tracking snagging list items, liaising with shipyards, equipment manufacturers, class, and suppliers, and assisting with the establishment of maintenance plans, spares holdings, and technical documentation for new assets.
In parallel, the role will be responsible for the warm lay-up and ongoing care of our older vessels within the fleet. This includes ensuring machinery, systems, and equipment are correctly preserved and maintained, warm lay-up routines are established and adhered to, and all associated maintenance activities are appropriately planned, recorded, and monitored. The role will ensure vessels remain in a safe, compliant, and readily recoverable condition while out of service or operating at reduced utilisation.
The role will also assist with the introduction and ongoing development of planned maintenance systems, including the setup, refinement, and continuous improvement of maintenance schedules, task libraries, and reporting processes. In addition, the role will support the development, review, and implementation of operational manuals, technical procedures, and vessel-specific documentation, ensuring practical, accurate, and compliant guidance is in place across our new vessels.
Where required, and subject to operational need, the role may also include occasional cover onboard in a Second Engineer capacity, providing additional operational resilience to the fleet.
This role offers exposure to both newbuild vessel introduction and legacy fleet support within a lifeline passenger and freight operation serving the Isles of Scilly, working closely with Marine and Technical Superintendents and operational teams.
This post is a temporary role, established to support the Group during a defined period of fleet transition. The role will remain in place through the introduction into service of new vessels and associated fleet changes, after which the requirement for the role will be reviewed
