Giving back
Proud to give back
When the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group was founded, one of our founding principles was to foster the prosperity and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
More than 100 years later, we are proud to continue to give back to those communities, both on the islands and in West Cornwall.
We support a huge range of charities and good causes, community groups and sporting events. Each year we donate many tickets as competition prizes and provide sponsorship to charities. We also provide significantly subsidised travel for island residents, medical flights and off-island freight; the costs of which are met entirely by us.
We give back around £1 million every year – it’s a commitment we take very seriously. Community involvement helps us to bring positive, measurable change to our communities.
We are proud to work closely with three charities close to the hearts of all at the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group – raising thousands of pounds each year.

Sponsorships
We sponsor various individuals, groups and initiatives every year – from grassroots football teams to surf lifesaving clubs, local musicians to theatre groups.
One of our major sponsorship programmes in 2023-24 is with Five Islands Academy on St Mary’s. We gifted 200 tickets on Scillonian III to the school, giving pupils the chance to compete in sporting events on the mainland throughout the academic year.
With tight school budgets, the sponsorship means island children can take part in a variety of competitive sporting events they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to get to.

Supporting community projects
We’ve supported numerous projects and good causes on the islands and in Cornwall that have had a tangible on-going positive impact from a community, social or environmental perspective.
We have awarded grants totalling £84,750 to 52 projects ranging from funding a set of new judo mats for a club on St Mary’s to helping preserve irreplaceable memorabilia for the Cornish Pilot Gig Association; supporting Cornwall Samaritans and the Community Observatory St Martin’s on Scilly (COSMOS).
